Social Security depends primarily on a steady stream of payroll taxes from a growing workforce. Right now, we have more people in retirement than we do in the workforce, with longer lifespans and lower birth rates. Unless Congress steps in beforehand, we’re looking at a reduction of full benefits beginning in 2032 at 24%.
